Volunteer Opportunities

BirchBark’s mission is powered by compassionate, dedicated volunteers who make a real difference in the lives of pets and their families.

We are always looking for passionate animal advocates to join our team in a variety of meaningful ways. Explore the opportunities below to see how you can lend your time, your skills, and your heart.

These roles are just a glimpse of what’s possible. Join us and be a voice for pets in crisis. Your support can change lives.

  • Be the energy and heart behind our most exciting moments. From art and wine nights to community fundraisers, event volunteers help create welcoming, joyful spaces where compassion and connection come to life. Whether you’re setting up, greeting guests, or pouring wine, you’re helping raise critical funds to help keep pets and families together.

  • Have a knack for writing, design or social media? Use your creative spark to inspire others to care, give, and get involved. Whether you’re crafting heartfelt social media posts, editing video, or designing event flyers, you’ll help tell Birchbark’s story in a way that moves people to action.

  • Play a powerful role in showcasing the heart of BirchBark’s mission. Using your writing, interviewing, or storytelling skills, you’ll help capture and share the real-life journeys of the pets and families that we have helped. Whether you’re drafting a short-write up for social media, conducting brief interviews with grateful pet owners, or crafting full-length features for newsletters, your words will help inspire donors, engage the community, and celebrate the impact of our work.

We also would love to partner with graphic designers looking to expand their portfolio, college interns pursuing marketing or web design careers, & social media copywriters and content writers interested in sharing their talent. Write content for our Success Stories, newsletters, blogs, advertising, marketing, and website.

  • As a senior Pet Aid Support volunteer, you’ll provide compassionate, one-on-one support to elderly pet owners navigating through tough times. From assisting with financial aid applications to helping them access local resources, your guidance can mean the difference between keeping a cherished pet and facing heartbreaking separation. If you’re patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping people and animals stay together, this role is for you.
