honoring Dina Ruiz
We are thrilled to honor Dina Ruiz as this year’s Animal Hero Award recipient.
Dina has enjoyed a remarkable career in broadcast and print media on the Central Coast. She is the former weeknight anchor at KSBW-TV in Salinas and co-hosted the pioneering television program Candid Camera with Peter Funt. She later created, executive produced, and starred in E! Network’s Mrs. Eastwood & Company. Today, Dina writes for Carmel Magazine and Maui SAVVY 360.
However, Dina's work extends far beyond her career in media. A passionate advocate for animals, Dina currently serves on the board of directors of Peace of Mind Dog Rescue, and previously wrote for Coastal Canine. She is also deeply involved in her community, serving on the boards of CASA of Monterey County and The California Museum and volunteering with the Boys & Girls Club of Monterey County.
Dina’s love for animals is also a part of her everyday life. She and her husband, Scott Fisher, share their home with their pack of dogs and a former stray cat who thinks he’s a dog. Her compassion for animals and commitment to making a difference in their lives embody the spirit of the Animal Hero Award, and we can’t wait to celebrate her with you.
