Nicole tanner, director of operations
Nicole shares her life with a 11-year-old husky mix named Olive who she adopted from NorCal sled dog rescue when she was only 8 weeks old!
Nicole first began her love of animals when she was just a little girl; attending 4H events with her best friend and spending as much time around dogs as possible. Her first dog was a golden retriever mix named “Golden” who was the family’s loyal companion for many years.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois and worked for many years in the for-profit world doing public accounting and business management.
After almost 15 years in the private sector Nicole knew she wanted to put her business skills to use in a way that gave back to her community. That is when she found BirchBark and began volunteering as bookkeeper and database administrator. After a short time, a space opened up for Nicole and she became Director of Operations.
Nicole couldn’t be happier in her role at BirchBark and feels grateful every day that she’s part of such an amazing team! This work is by far the most gratifying job she’s ever had!
Nicole enjoys spending time with her family and is very involved with her niece and nephews! She also volunteers as an Advocate for CASA of Santa Cruz County, spending time with a child in dependency court and advocating for her best interest.
